Hennepin County awards nearly $5M in housing grants

“Hennepin County has chosen 16 projects within its borders for grants fostering transit-oriented development and affordable housing.
On May 2, the county’s Housing and Redevelopment Authority awarded $2.75 million to projects that promise to create affordable housing, and gave $2.2 million to developments springing up along transit lines.”
Among the projects receiving grants are UrbanWorks’ Sabanthi Senior Housing – 50 affordable rental units for seniors next to its main building; East Town Apartments – a 169-unit workforce housing complex within waking distance of U.S. Bank Stadium; and YouthLink’s Downtown View – a 46-unit building for homeless youth.
